Home Theater Screens

Home theater screens are very popular because they can provide a cinematic experience for viewers in the comfort of their own homes. However, in order to be certain that the quality of the movie is not lost in the projection, the projection screen specifications can be just as important as the projector system itself.

The projection screens that are available on the market usually differ in price depending upon certain characteristics of these screens. There are about three types of projector screens, as well as the types of fabric that are used for these screens.

The first type of screen is the permanent or mounted screen that can be installed as a permanent fixture on the wall. This is done only if one has determined a particular room that will act as a dedicated entertainment theater center. Usually, curtains are also mounted on the wall to cover and protect the screen when it is not being used. Factors to consider here are the type of material being used, projector angles and specifics, and permanent seating areas for the audience. Albeit, this is the more expensive way to install a screen, it is very effective if one wishes to have his own movie theater in his home.

The second type of screen is the semi-permanent, pull-down type of screen that can be pulled down during use, and then raised back into its protective casing when not in use. This allows for the room to be used for other functions. It also allows for other decorative items to be place on the wall when the theater itself is not needed. The screen simply covers the wall décor when pulled down as needed. The semi-permanent nature of the installation also allows for installation to another room/area if so desired.

The most cost-efficient way is the third type of screen, which is the portable screen. These come in two types to install. There are inflatable screens that are complete with audio speakers and cables. Then, there are the standard aluminum framed screens that can be set up and folded away when needed. Both types are functional and very practical for indoor and outdoor use.

Fabrics that are used by home theater screens play a very big role in adding enhancement to the overall theater experience that one wants to achieve. It is advisable to inquire on the screen ratios (screen gain vs. viewing angle) whenever a screen is being considered. Lower screen gain is best for use with the latest modern projectors, as the projection of the images can be very bright in contrast. Shades of white or grey are also factors to consider when acquiring a screen that will match with user preferences. It takes great care to choose the proper screen material whenever a home theater is being planned.Home Theater Screens Home Theater Screens
